4x6 thermal label printers compared
A 4x6 shipping label needs a printer that can print at least 4 inches wide, takes the stock you plan to buy, and connects the way your packing table works. Six options are below with the facts that decide that, taken from each manufacturer's own pages.
Short version
One computer at a fixed desk: a USB Rollo X1038 or a USB MUNBYN 4x6 model. Several devices or a phone: the Rollo Wireless X1040. Adjustable media sensing for warehouse stock: Zebra ZD421. Already own DYMO or Brother rolls: stay in that system. Check the exact model code and stock before you pay.
What decides itFour checks before you buy
- Print width. A 4x6 label is 4 inches wide. Every printer below lists a maximum width of about 4 inches or more (4.1 in, 104 mm, 108 mm, 4.16 in, 4 in). Smaller models in the same family may not reach it; the Brother QL range is the clearest case, where many smaller QL models cannot print 4x6 at all.
- Direct thermal stock. Rollo prints direct thermal only, with no ink or ribbon, so you buy labels and nothing else. Zebra sells both direct thermal and ribbon-based models, so confirm which one is in the listing.
- Feed path. Fanfold stacks and roll stock load differently. The Rollo and Zebra pages document fanfold support; the DYMO 4XL manual and the MUNBYN model page do not, so those stay marked unverified here.
- Connection. USB suits one computer. If you print from a phone or share a printer between devices, you need Wi-Fi or AirPrint, which among these options only the Rollo Wireless lists as a built-in feature.
Whatever you choose, a label that prints tiny is usually a page-size or scale mismatch rather than a bad printer. See why Fit to page shrinks the barcode and the Whatnot printing fix, or convert a letter-size label with the free 4x6 converter.

After the printerStock and setup
The printer is half the purchase. Match the label size to the stock your printer supports, then run the manufacturer's media calibration so the printer finds the gap between labels. Our label stock and holder picks and printer setup checklist cover fanfold vs roll and the scaling settings that cause cropped or tiny prints.
